FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT DISASTER RECOVERY ALLOWANCE
The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Allowance (DRA) is a short-term income support payment to assist individuals who can demonstrate that their income has been affected as a direct result of a disaster.
The DRA assists employees, small business persons and farmers who experience a loss of income as a direct result of a major disaster.
You might be eligible for a maximum of 13 weeks payment from the date you have or will have a loss of income as a direct result of a disaster. The DRA is taxable.

AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT DISASTER RECOVERY PAYMENT
The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment is a lump sum payment that can help if you’ve been significantly affected by a disaster.
If you’re eligible you will receive:
- $1,000 per adult
- $400 for each child younger than 16.
You have until 1 September 2022 to make a claim for the following Local Government Areas (LGAs): Brisbane, Bundaberg, Fraser Coast, Gladstone, Gold Coast, Goondiwindi, Gympie, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Logan, Moreton Bay, Noosa, North Burnett, Redland, Scenic Rim, Somerset, South Burnett, Southern Downs, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Western Downs. Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment is a lump sum payment.

QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT EMERGENCY HARDSHIP ASSISTANCE
The Emergency Hardship Assistance Grant is available as a contribution to support people directly impacted by a disaster who are unable to meet their immediate essential needs for food, clothing, medical supplies or temporary accommodation.
If deemed eligible, applicants may receive $180 per person up to $900 for a family of 5 or more. The grant is initially available to claim for 7 days following the activation of the grant in your area.
Emergency Hardship Assistance is not income or asset tested. To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- live or are stranded in the targeted activation zone
- have suffered hardship as a result of the event
- are unable to meet your immediate essential needs for food, clothing, medical supplies or temporary accommodation.
You are not eligible for this grant if you are claiming:
- business loss or damage including compensation for loss of income
- farm or property damage (excluding principal place of residence)
- loss of tools of trade
- loss of power/ essential services to your home (you may be eligible for an Essential Services Hardship Assistance grant if the loss is for greater than 5 days) .
- isolation within property.

QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT EMERGENCY HOUSEHOLD CONTENTS GRANT
If you are uninsured, or unable to claim insurance, you may be eligible for financial assistance to provide a contribution towards replacing or repairing essential household contents, such as beds, linen and whitegoods, that have been lost or damaged in a disaster.
Grants of up to $1,765 for single adults and up to $5,300 for couples/families are available.

QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT ESSENTIAL SERVICES HARDSHIP ASSISTANCE GRANT
This grant is available as a contribution to supports people directly impacted by a disaster to meet their immediate needs where they have experienced loss of one or more essential services for more than 5 days.
If deemed eligible, applicants may receive $150 per person, up to $750 for a family of 5 or more. The grant is initially available to claim for 7 days following the activation of the grant in your area.

QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT ESSENTIAL SERVICES SAFETY AND RECONNECTION GRANT
If you’re uninsured, or unable to claim insurance, you may be eligible for a grant to help you reconnect essential services that were damaged by a disaster.
There are 2 parts to the grant:
- Inspection: up to $200 towards a safety inspection for each essential service needing reconnection (electricity, gas, water and sewerage or septic system)
- Repair: up to $4200 towards repair work to enable essential services to be reconnected (for example, electrical rewiring).

EXTRAORDINARY DISASTER ASSISTANCE RECOVERY GRANTS
Extraordinary Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants are available to assist directly impacted small businesses, primary producers and non-profits with the costs of clean-up and reinstatement.
Grants of up to $75,000 for affected primary producers and up to $50,000 for affected businesses and non-profit organisations are available to hire or purchase equipment and materials, clean up, remove debris, replace fencing and other costs associated with the recovery process.
